Service Description

An ancient time-tested Ayurvedic treatment. Shiro means “head” and dhara means “flow” or “stream”. Shirodhara treatment is the gentle steady flow of warm Shirodhara oil across the forehead. The session is performed in silence and runs from 40 min. to one hour long. It pacifies VATA, the air element within the body and mind, as it calms the central nervous system. During a SHIRODHARA, the body is deeply settled and the protective nervous system is disarmed. In this deep stillness, the nervous system releases any stress or strain that inhibits the flow of stillness into every cell of the body. The goal is to have a pure experience of consciousness in every cell of the body. This, in turn, improves mental clarity and comprehension, as well as helping to ease a variety of ailments (see below). Book a combined session with Marma Chikitsa. Marma therapy is an ancient Ayurvedic practice that focuses on massaging these points to manipulate prana (subtle energy) within the organs for the purposes of activating and supporting the healing processes. Appropriate for the following conditions: headaches/migraines anxiety PTSD depression memory loss psychosomatic diseases digestion issues insomnia hypertension paralysis heart disease psoriasis
